When you’ve gone under
There’s a moment after you’ve made your way back to the surface
That you know you are fully at the mercy of the ocean
That if another wave were to come crashing down right then
You wouldn’t make it
It is a place of complete vulnerability
All you have the strength left to do
Is to keep your head above water
And try to catch your breath
Something else has to show up
Somehow… just enough time before the next wave
Somehow… a lifeboat
Somehow… a hand
Sometimes I wonder if the purpose of these moments
Is for us to learn and relearn the lesson
That we are not in control
But we are also not alone.
